Photo Exhibition Just One Way to Commemorate Kokoda 2023's Lasting Impact

In May, the highly anticipated photo exhibition, ‘Kokoda - A Journey in Self Discovery’, opened at the Y WA Gallery Space.

Families from Kalgoorlie and Perth gathered for the opening, turning the occasion into a heartfelt reunion for many. Attendees shared short stories and speeches highlighting the profound impact the program had on their lives.

This exhibition is also a significant milestone for one of our own, Tegan Taudigani, the Y WA’s graphic designer and content creator, who completed the Kokoda Trek last year.  Tegan’s first-ever photo exhibition beautifully captures the essence of self-discovery through her lens.

Tegan was honoured to share and recognise the achievements of all the young people involved in the program.

She said, “The amount of support a lot of the families gave the participants throughout the whole journey has been phenomenal, and I wanted to create a space that acknowledged it. It warms my heart to hear directly from the parents how much of an impact this program has had in their children’s lives”.

The exhibition ran from Monday 20 May to Friday 24 May with a closing event from 4 to 7pm.
